We're Here For You

We're here for you
A network of over 200 women and non-binary people contributing to social change.

ACCESS MENTORS

Support another woman or non-binary person to build confidence, reach their goals and achieve financial independence.

WHAT IS INVOLVED

As an Access mentor, you play an important role in supporting women as they move towards employment, rebuild confidence, and explore their goals.

Mentors provide encouragement, share practical knowledge, and help mentees navigate challenges along the way.

This relationship is a meaningful way to contribute your skills and experience, while also gaining new perspectives and connections through the mentoring journey.

As an Access mentor, you may support your mentee to:

✰ Recognise and build on their strengths, knowledge, skills, confidence, and capabilities

✰ Explore and identify opportunities to increase their economic independence

✰ Take steps toward employment and other personal or professional goals

WHO CAN BECOME A MENTOR?

Mentoring is an important role within our program.

When mentor opportunities open, applicants go through a short selection and assessment process to ensure the role is the right fit for both the volunteer and the women we support.

This helps us identify volunteers with the skills, experience, and availability needed to provide safe, consistent, and meaningful mentoring relationships.

To be eligible to become an Access mentor, you must be:

✰ Aged 18 or older

✰ Based in Greater Sydney

✰ Identify as a woman or non-binary person

We look for mentors who:

✰ Communicate with empathy and respect

✰ Are reliable and able to commit their time consistently

✰ Bring relevant professional or lived experience

✰ Are open to learning and supporting women from diverse backgrounds

HOW TO BECOME A MENTOR

If you're interested in becoming an Access mentor, join The Volunteer Collective at WAGEC.

In your application, let us know you're interested in our mentoring program.

We'll let you know when mentoring roles become available. You can then apply, and if selected, you'll undergo an assessment process.

We recruit mentors periodically, depending on program demand, and we expect the next mentor intake to be School Term 2, 2026.

In the meantime, you can explore other volunteer opportunities at WAGEC.
