Volunteer
Join our community of WAGEC volunteers to help support women and children living in crisis.
Volunteering at WAGEC
Volunteers play an invaluable role in enabling us to ensure safe futures for women and families, by helping provide targeted support when it is needed the most. Whether it be through sorting donations, facilitating therapeutic activities for women and children, or supporting our team at Walk For WAGEC: volunteers make the work we do possible.
If you have questions about our volunteer program, or want to know more about how you can get involved with WAGEC, please get in touch below.
Current Opportunities
We are currently looking for volunteers to fill the following roles:
⭐ Community Chefs ⭐
We’re looking for volunteers who can prepare and serve a nutritious lunch to women in the community. WAGEC will cover the cost of the groceries needed, so all you need to bring is yourself and a recipe you’d love to share.
⭐ Activity Facilitators ⭐
We’re looking for volunteers who would like to use their skills and passion to support women in WAGEC’s community by leading group activities. Activities could include massage, karaoke, manicures/pedicures, hairdressing, dance, and more.
⭐ English Conversation Buddies ⭐
We are looking for volunteers who would like to support a WAGEC client to practice their English language skills and build their confidence in conversational English. Whether you have experience learning a second language or tutoring English, or just love a chat, this is a great opportunity to help a woman build her confidence and practical skills!
⭐ Donation Sorting Assistant ⭐
Interested in volunteering in a refuge environment? Love organising? We are looking for a regular volunteer to help our refuge team receive and sort food donations. This role occurs weekly on Mondays and is essential to ensuring WAGEC clients living in refuge have access to fresh grocery products.

Corporate Volunteering
Corporate volunteering is an incredible way to support WAGEC’s vision while building your team’s spirit, skillsets, and relationships with the wider community. From working bees at our crisis accommodation sites to creating “back-to-school” care packs, these collective efforts are key to helping WAGEC create safe spaces for women and children.
Our corporate volunteer program is currently on hold while we reassess our needs across WAGEC. If your team is interested in supporting WAGEC in other ways, you can learn more about our ACCESS mentoring program, discover training opportunities for your team, and/or make a donation to help build safe futures for women and children.
